Privacy Policy
Your information, handled with care
Last updated: October 2026
LeaseEasy Alberta (“we”, “us”) provides tools for creating, signing, and managing Alberta residential tenancy leases. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@leaseeasyalberta.com.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely as a hash).
Lease content. The properties, tenants, lease terms, and documents you enter or upload — including names, contact details, addresses, and signatures — are stored so the service can function. Tenant information you enter belongs to your tenancy records; you are responsible for having the right to provide it.
Payment information. Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number — Stripe handles all card data, and we keep only references (such as a customer ID) needed to manage your subscription.
Usage information. We collect basic technical data such as pages visited, device type, and error logs to keep the service reliable and improve it.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the service: building leases, sending signature requests, and managing your documents.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To send transactional emails (signature requests, receipts, account notices).
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud, and fix problems.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use lease content for advertising.
3. Where your information is stored
Our database and file storage are provided by Supabase, and our application is hosted by Vercel. These providers currently store data in the United States. By using the service, you consent to your information being stored and processed outside Alberta and Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run the service:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
- Resend — sending transactional emails such as signature requests.
- Supabase & Vercel — database, file storage, authentication, and hosting.
We do not share lease content with anyone else except as required by law (for example, a court order) or to protect our rights.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Your rights under PIPA
Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act, you may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request corrections to inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual limits (withdrawing consent for essential data means we can no longer provide the service).
To make a request, email support@leaseeasyalberta.com. We will respond within 45 days as required by PIPA.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal obligations (such as tax records). You may delete your lease documents at any time from your dashboard, and you may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Backup copies may persist for a limited time after deletion.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced by email or a notice in the app, and the “last updated” date above will change.
Draft notice: this policy is a draft prepared for review by legal counsel and does not constitute legal advice.
